Fibre Optic Cabling vs Copper Cabling

With the development of Fibre Optic Cabling, it is now a more popular choice between electricians and tradesman alike. So why is it that fibre optic cabling is greater than the alternative choice copper cabling?

Well you have to look into the following points to look at developments in the cabling field; natural development, speed, electromagnetic immunity, security, protection and dimension / weight.

To start, it is probable that with most progressions in technology that you will see a greater invention, and fibre optic cabling is no different. Copper wire has been about for more than a century; therefore, it is more than outdated, and fibre optic cabling is a progression just like the expansion of black and white television to LCD television.

Fibre Optic Cabling is much faster than copper cabling; this is because a single cable contains thousands of fibres in one cable. This means it is perfect for high-speed Internet and busy business telephone systems.

Fibre Optic Cabling willnot get any hindrance from Electromagnetic signals; in Copper Wiring this may cause distortion be it on phonelines, interferenceto television signals or even down time to your Internet service. Fibre Optic cabling will not have any hindrance from Electromagnetic signals.

Unfortunately with copper wires there are a few security issues. Copper cables can discolse information due to the magnetic field leaking, and can be tapped into with special antennas. Even though there has been progression to limit the problem with copper taping, it makes the copper wiring less efficent and more dear. Again fibre optic cabling will under no circumstances cause this difficulty.

As copper wires run electrify from one point to the other, they can be very unsafe. Electrical currents can cause sparks, which may source electrical shocks or even fires. They can also conduct lightning which obviousally is very hazardous. As fibre optic cabling sends out light and not electric it will not cause problems with lightning, sparks or even electrical shocks.

The weight and size of the wire may not be much of a worry to the shopper but for the worker it makes a lot of difference, copper cabling is two times the mass of fibre optic cabling.

As you can see with the above, there are plenty of reasons why fibre optic cabling is a greater selection than copper cabling.

Its like you read my mind! You seem to know so much about this, like you wrote the book in it or something. I think that you can do with a few pics to drive the message home a little bit, but instead of that, this is magnificent blog. A fantastic read….
